looks like the way to go
Further to this thread http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread...63#post2049263
Just want to clarify the order of driver and software install please. This is my understanding of what is required, in order:
1 - Install W7 without updates.
2 - Install MB and GPU drivers from the manufacturer's disks.
3 - Install virus protection.
4 - Run Windows updates.
5 - Install 3rd party programs.
Cheers.

I would skip the install drivers from disks and head over to the manufacturers websites as long as you already know the part numbers of what you've bought and download the latest drivers.
Further more for the GPU I would recommend getting the Generic driver/software package off the Nvidia site(assuming you went with the 770 from the other thread) as 3rd party branded drivers often lag behind the Nvidia/ATI release with little benefit to using them.
I believe MS is now shipping windows dvds with service pack 1 integrated into it but you'll likely need to do updates post sp1

I always install the drivers from the motherboard manufacturers disks. Too much heart ache otherwise when your ethernet port or sound or something doesn't work...
Heh good point, I made to many edits writing that and stuffed it
I should have been clearer in that first line I was try to suggest getting them ahead of time if the part numbers are known.
I've certainly been caught out in the past with LAN and Sata drivers not included in the windows install.
I like to download the latest drivers before I do an update, either to a network location or onto my own optical disk.
I don't know if I'd bother with the anti virus until after I'd installed the drivers and major software if I'm not connecting to the Internet. I'd also disable the UAC and grant myself administrator's rights.
Once the major software has been installed I'd enable the anti-virus, change my log on to a normal user, enable the UAC and connect to the Internet for several days of software updates...
