Cat 6e actually 😄
I could just run a cat 5, as I have to underground to the shed between the house and have to do storm water from that shed to the tank behind the shed I want the internerd in. maybe I'll just do that net time home and I have the digger going
Cat 6e actually 😄
Box of cat 5 in shed, no box of Cat 6
I'd suggest that anything I wish to do in the shed, the cat 5 will more than suffice, if it's an issue pulling through 25mm conduit will be easy
All I do is read stuff and occasionally YouTube, if I was live streaming movies I'd be in the house anyway
Pull 3 strings too...

I am another using Internet over power line to get Internet in the shed (that's where the playstation and driving sim is set up...).
I have to add my vote for its simplicity and plug and play application. Its far simpler than the wireless extender I've used to get Internet in the lounge (and improve WiFi through the other end of the house). That was a real nightmare to setup, although to be fair it was easier after I did a firmware update to my gateway device.
If your going to have Cat5/6 between the house be aware that there is a risk that earthing potential between the buildings can cause devices to go POP. I was a disbeliever till we had it happen.
Peoples opinions may differ on the risk of this but I just thought it should be highlighted.
I could see how that could happen, and i have run miles (or kms) over time doing just that.
So far lucky.
But i do now insist on in line surge protectors now, been bitten too many times by lightening. It seems a near miss can set up massive induction (?) on a long open run.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
apologies to Socrates
Clancy MY15 110 Defender
Clancy's gone to Queensland Rovering, and we don't know where he are
WNBP, Bialla, not even on Google Maps, 150km by road from Kimbe, heading towards Rabual. You can almost drive to Rabual, (in a Cat D3 !)
Your idea of trenching would be the best deal if you have the gear, although 802.11n gear nowadays is bloody good & cheap.
OR contract it out to the NBN if your not in a hurry![]()

Yea, have 1.5T digger so no biggy to trench, have to trench the distance anyway and being data I can just jam it in with the storm water![]()
