    Next G modem

My Next G broadband modem has become faulty.
Telstra say I neeed to buy a new one from them.
Has anyone purchased a used Next G/ 3G modem and activated it? There are a few on ebay but Im getting mixed advise about being able to activate it to my Telstra account.

I've had a bunch of experience with these modems, main thing to watch out for is that you don't pickup a Bigpond one, as the Telstra SIM won't work in it (it's locked to the telstra.bigpond "APN" and won't change to telstra.internet but that's more info than you need...)

I am assuming you're referring to a "Home Gateway" type (with LAN connections) ? If you mean a "pocket wifi" type, I would grab one of these Telstra - Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband Devices and Starter Kits - Broadband Internet

Rock solid and for a few dollars you can get the unlock code on Ebay and use it on any network. That's a pre-paid one but it's setup for Telstra so you can swap a Telstra plan SIM straight in.

Happy to help out if you have any more questions, as I said main difference is Bigpond / Telstra account.

Good news - after a long negotiation, Telstra did the right thing and replaced the faulty modem with an upgraded device Aircard 782S.

I havent got my latest account yet, but they assure me it is at no cost

I have spent a lot of time working on these modems..
The Telstra offerings are pathetic particularly in a corporate environment (we use them on boats)

I have found the Comset 4G modems to be the best and most reliable.
    Industrial Routers Australia | Comset

No connection to them just found these to be the most reliable / configurable.
