Media Monkey Will Not Go Away

I loaded Media Monkey onto my computer to do a particular task which I have now completed and I want to remove it from my computer but it will not go.

I have tried the uninstall option in the relevant but it says the relevant file does not exist.

I have gone into the Control Panel to uninstall the program and while it is listed, the Control Panel says the relevant file does not exist.

Media Monkey has not attached itself into my system and has made itself my default program to media related files. I have gone into properties to change the default to something else like Windows media but the option is greyed out so I cannot change the default. I can change individual files to open with something else but cannot change the default.

I have also cleaned the system with CC cleaner and Cleanup with no success in removing it.

Any ideas on how to get rid of this program or at least change it from being the default program.

    Thanks

    Garry

    Garry,
Click start, in the search bar, type regedit.
In regedit, you will see a tree of dirs, files.
Open the software dir. Scroll down until you see monkey or media monkey dir, open that, right click on all files individualy and select delete. Then delete the dir.
Then go through and check it hasn't installed in any other tree.
Close regedit, reboot, should be all good.

Media monkey is awesome - why uninstall it?

Perhaps try re-installing and then uninstalling, as that sometimes gets around this type of issue.

Because I don't want it. I only wanted it for a particular job that is complete.

Yes - reinstalling and then uninstalling is what I did - we often miss the obvious. The original installation must have been faulty but not enough to not make it work. I reinstalled it and then it could be uninstalled.

Thanks to everyone for the input.

    Much appreciated.

even uninstalled media monkey leaves crap all thru the system..

that is why i suggest you use the revo uninstaller as it cleans up the mess that is left afterwards even if its uninstaller works..
