Oh and just to add I have turned off and left for more than 10secs and turned on, I have rebooted and I have reset the router..nothing is working.
Hey guys
Hopefully someone can help me.
We have had some bad storms here of late in during them have lost ours one line.
However Telstra guy came out today and phone line is working beautifully now dial tone and no crackling.
However we have since tried to get on the Internet to no avail.
I run a wireless router, I have tried changing filters, changing cables I have plugged directly too the phone socket and I have change the phone socket in which I have plugged it in to.
I can connect to the router with no issues but unable to connect to the Internet.
It just tells me on the trouble shooter that the DNS server is not responding.
I have run a diagnostics on the router (to the best of my knowledge) and it tells me that the test xDSL synchronisation has failed.
Is this a problem at my end? Ie the router is knackered or is this a problem at iinets end who is my service provider.
Any info would be greatly appreciated as we are going on to our 7th day with no Internet now.

the DNS is not responding as you have no synch.
call them and tell them you have no synch.
Ignore the DNS error it is a symptom of a deeper problem
ADSL syncronisation - This is indication of the signal between your Modem and The DSL equipment in the telephone exchange running over your phone line.
This must be established and stable before looking at any other part of the connection.
3 reasons it can fail
Telstra Equipment in the exchange is faulty
There is a fault/interference on your phone line
Your modem/router has failed or is setup incorrectly
Sounds like Telstra have ruled out the first 2 already, I would suggest borrowing a friends modem and watching for the ADSL sync on theirs you don't even need to connect to the internet with it just check if it can get sync to rule out your modem
What happens if you don't have any friends? Let alone ones with modems to borrow
Perhaps I will just have to buy a new one. The one I have which an awesome forum member gave me a couple of years ago...did get a bit chewed up by the dogs..it has however continued working all this time..perhaps the latest storms have tipped it and its chewed up case over the edge![]()

Oh forgot to add on the diagnostic run on the router the ping to default gateway and to the primary Domain name server also failed.
Bu I assume its due to the same aspect above. So didn't think it really mattered that I forgot to put it in. *sigh*

That is unfortunate,
iiNet supply loan modems to test with that you could buy if it fixed your issue(at least they used to) with CSM approval
It's all good guys I noticed that the Internet light and the adsl light on the router were not illuminated at all which made me realise it was probably the router.
I did however manage to rummage around and found my very old dlink adsl router.
Plugged it in and got a solid adsl link light....
I did play around for a bit longer and finally managed to get it working and the Internet working so I think its safe to say I need to go out and buy a new router tomorrow..
Thank you to you both for the help in diagnosing
Appreciate it![]()
