I've been hearing radio ads stating that (mentioned) areas have been/are about to be connected to the new system. The existing network will be shut down and affected residents will have to contact their preferred carrier to upgrade. Transference is not automatic, what about those still on contract?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
I'm sure they will Mick, but at an increased cost. What happens to those who don't want the extra cost and still have time to run on contracts?

Ian, when the copper in the area is shutdown, they wont be able to deliver what they are contracted to will they....
I am sure you will be able to work out something with them... or a competitor.

Actually, Ian, my NBN plan was slightly cheaper than the ADSL service they replaced.
I have mobile internet too. I'm also thinking of canceling the NBN as I am not using it much.
You can stay with the mobile plan.
What you can do, if your phone is with Telstra, get the phone transferred over to the fibre. They install the NBN equipment and plug the phone into a UNI-V port.
According to the Telstra blurb, your existing plan will not change.
I have been through this process.
Mick,we have NBN about to come available, ours is via mobile towers using the TV spectrum freed up by digital TV I believe. The new NBN towers are up,so should be able to swap over soon.Have got the advertising lingo from NBN.

From what I understand, in your situation, the telephone will remain on the copper network unless you purchase a NBN bundled service.
If you are happy with the copper, stay with the copper.
The VoIP service with these NBN plans is inferior. There are so many unresolved problems and the quality of service is not up to the copper network yet.
Cheers Mick.
My internet speed is good as we are only 200m from the exchange. Will keep what I have as I have an old unlimited plan that is no longer available at the price I pay.
Thanks
Andrew
