Tablet for PDF plans and email

    Gurus,

If you were to buy a tablet to meet the following criteria, what would you get?

To be used on construction sites to view PDF plans and email.
Must open said PDFs quickly, be easy to search/list files, zoom in, etc.
At least 64GB HDD to store these A0 plans which are up to 10GB each (most are 600KB ).
The process of getting said PDF's onto the tablet has to be via some auto sync back to MS Server 2003 (soon to be the latest version) or W7 laptop via wifi.
    Min 4 hours battery life.
    3 of 4G for email.
USB for access to more files.

Oh...and it has to be stable, reliable and not require an intuitive 14yo to figure how to do the most basic things.

................or am I asking too much?

On-board GPS for 4WD mapping would be nice but not a core criteria

    G'day ,

No you're not asking too much.

An iPad Air 2 loaded with the app "PDF expert" https://readdle.com/products/pdfexpert5 will do what you're asking.

Plus you'll be able to annotate the plans, then email them with annotations.

My Wife uses one as a secondary teacher and swears by this app. PDF expert handles so many file types from external sources.

The iPads cost more but remember most of the specd memory is actually available for use, unlike some of the windows ones that have a bloated os loaded.

And they do talk to non Apple devices - see PDFs expert and look under "file manager" for the external sources / protocols supported.
    Cheers

Are there any non-Apple devices (Android ideally) that meet a similar requirement? Just interested as I may look to get one in due course.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Bought a Surface 3. Impressed so far although big fingers on a small tablet don't work too well. The pen used in Onenote is amazingly good; it has a USB port and runs Windows programs. Ticks all the boxes so far.

Sony Xperia, but it has no USB port. It is dust and waterproof, I use mine as a GPS.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

How do you transfer data onto it?

Screams along. What I am liking more though is the using the pen in Onenote. Working on getting rid of my paper diary....although I don't know if this old dog can adapt to that new trick.

Its got a full size USB 3 port which works as advertised but I'm trialling Onedrive (Dropbox equivalent) which seems to work fine.

My big drama at this point is it refusal to see my Iphone 4s as a wifi hotspot. Works fine tethered but that's a bit redundant these days. I assume its the phone not the Surface as I'm having some issues with the 4s.

EDIT: Actually never mind I just saw that the Sony Xperia, is a phone not a tablet.
