    Don't throw away the packaging!

My 1 TB SSD boot drive appears to have failed at about 9 months of age. It's not always recognised (mostly not) by the BIOS.

So I thought I'd look into sending it back to Seagate under warranty. However, their packaging requirements are such that if I don't use their specified materials, it won't be accepted for warranty.

I didn't keep the original packaging. Who does? Well. I will in the future.

Well, I want at least 2 - Win 7 and XP.

I initially wanted the faster boot speed of the SSD and it wasn't much dearer to go to 1TB. I'm glad my photos are backed up onto an external drive. I'm getting (and previously had been occasionally getting) "Device Verify Failed" when the SSD is recognised by the BIOS.

I'll try putting it into a USB case and see if it can be accessed there.

I've reverted to a 320MB HDD I bought of Inc some years back - it was my previous boot drive. Fortunately I'd done a full backup the day before I went to the GC (I run a daily incremental backup). When I got back, the PC would no longer boot so I fitted the 320MB, booted it, then did restore. It still needed a bit of fiddling to get it all right. Mailwasher no longer works and won't even with an uninstall and new install. I don't know what may not be working.

I may have bought it on-line from mWave. If I bought it from my local computer shop, I have doubts that they'll agree to take it back. I think they will not be able to understand English when I ask....
