    Mother board dead.

The computer that I normally use has shuffled of it`s mortal coil. Board is a Asrock 990fx extreme 3. First to go was the sound. Got around that by using a sound card that I had. New it was the board and not a software issue as I had multiple drives and windows installed and there was no sound on all windows. Got a blue screen of death the other night. Thought nothing of it, just rebooted. It has a amd FX 4 core cpu. Got a six core cpu that matched exactly to the Asrock cpu support list. Installed it and there was no display, graphics was not happening. Ok so thought that the new cpu was using to much power. Reinstalled the four core cpu. Now nothing was happening, was getting power to the graphic cards as there was a power LED lighting up. Removed the power supply and connected it to another computer that I have and it ran fine. So this leaves the board as the problem. Gosh darn
So a new board on the list to get.

If its an Australian vendor and just over a year you might have some hope.

If its from overseas I very much doubt it.

You have to be careful, particularly dealing with 'eastern asia', sometimes things aren't what they seem, or claim to be...

I did not pay a lot for it. You can still buy them new but they are a few years old now, so new old stock, hence they are cheap enough. They are still quite a good board but with a couple of issues ( as I have found out ). Naturally I did not suspect the sound was going to be a issue. When it ceased be sound and became silence I did a Google search. Sure enough there was a number of pages with the same issue. Also apparently the north bridge tends to over heat which causes issues. So this board won`t be on my short list or long list.
