have you tried a different keyboard
What a pain having to carry a keyboard with a notebook?
ah, its a notebook. i think this is a key bit of info.
chances are its running manufacturer drivers.
i would be looking here.
plugging in a keyboard to test wont hurt.
Exactly which model notebook Lotz-A-Landies?

Option 2:
Can you check what keyboard windows thinks it has?
If you go to the magnifying glass next to the start icon ( Bottom left) and just type "Language" you will get the language dialogue box that should list what keyboard it thinks it has. As the others have said ..normally US, unless you purchased this outside Australia.
Option 3:
Go to device manager and see if you can get windows to find a better driver.
Again use the search bottom left - type 'Device Manager"
Open up the tree by clicking the ">" icon next to keyboard
Right click on the keyboard that appears and select "Update Driver software"
Let us know how you go with that lot.....must be a right nuisance!
I'm afraid Option 4 is most unladylike
;(
It's a long shot, but have you tried calling HP tech support and seeing if they have any useful advise? 13 10 47
Alternatively, I hear there is another fella around here that is pretty good with this stuff...... Dr Incisor...any thoughts?
As above and nothing worked (from Windows 7 Home), rang Microsoft Tech. support and after an hour or so the tech says I have problems with the registry and for a mere $200 he will fix it for me, what a scam, this mob is outsourced by Microsoft.
Their crap OS stuffed my perfectly working computer and turned it into a pile of crap and this mob wants me to pay for Microsoft's garbage product.
Rings Microsoft Tech again and get a different mob that spends 2 hours running my computer and finally get it working, no charge.
Except after starting up this morning Microsoft Edge don't work, Start doesn't work unless you right click it and it is slow.
Anyone know of a really good Registry Cleaner and PC fixer upper, don't mind paying for utilities that work, Regards frank.
Internet Explorer is still available with win 10 it should be listed with all the other apps. I have the same issue with edge with my old Toshiba laptop and i use Internet Explorer instead. Alternatively use chrome or mozilla.
Registry cleaners and pc fixers often do more harm than good. Jetclean is a good free cleanup tool.
You can also easily go back to windows 7 the way it was before upgrading if you want to.
