A couple off farms away have it, but they were told it was getting marginal, they are surrounded by a lot of trees though, we are higher and more open. As the crow flies probably only half a km more to the tower too so max 3-4km to the tower is that likely to be close enough?

Yep, we are right below it in the Millstream Valley but on the same side.
We do have a lot of trees on top of our hill between it & us, apparently I'm not allowed to knock them down, our hill is lower than the tower by a fair bit so I hope we get good reception.

Be pretty silly if we don't get good reception since I can walk to it in less than 10 minutes all up hill.

    I know it.
Not that I seem to get home as much these days (SWMBO is a bit peeved about this) I will keep an eye out for you.
Green Defender or a Mahindra Ute, right?

I drive either SWMBO's Silver Delica (2 in town, we own the dirty 1) or a Silver D3.

NBN actually looked at putting it on our land but decided the hill behind us was a better spot & I wasn't that keen on having it on my land, the rent was good though.
If we have a problem with the towers range I would be surprised, the waves or whatever they are might go over our heads though. We will probably get brain tumours!

When I ordered the NBN they told me the "Gateway" was WiFi so I'm hoping it is. I will be a little annoyed if it's not.
I have started looking at range extenders on the net but might wait & see before I buy one. Only 1 hour from home to Atherton to buy a range extender if I need one.

Sounds like you should be OK. And yes the standard Telstra gizmo's do have a wirless capability.

I have put a TP Link brand range extender in at work to get a signal downstairs (concrete floor) and around a corner. Works quite well. However as was said earlier in your situation running a cable across to the other side of your courtyard and then plugging into it may be a good way to go.

Yes the Mahindra is a new black dual cab with an aluminium tray, there is another round town with style sides.
    Fingers crossed for the nbn.

So, the NBN man came today & installed a square antenna on our roof & a white box inside.
Then he tells me it won't be working for 24 - 48 hours?
Gotta love modern Tec making things faster!
He also tells me we have excellent signal strength (no doubt being almost right under the NBN tower has something to do with this).
So, I guess tomorrow night I will be hopefully setting up the Telstra Gateway & changing the Wi-Fi settings on all our devices.
    Could be a long night.

Turn it on, my friend was told the same. I turned mine on right away and I had nbn within 10 minutes including phone. Not sure why that installer is saying that but it is not true.

So they can drive far nough away so by the time you find out they haven't installed properly and doesn't work.

Look at Ubiquity wireless access points.

Perhaps using Telstra the connection can be readied quickly but for other providers the authorisation process can take time - ours did.
