    Need new printer advice..

Ok the missus is the admin officer for the NQRA and the rifle club AND the fire brigade not to mention the CDRA so we print A LOT.. We have a Canon Mp550 and a couple of Lasers she uses when it is just text to save the inkjet Canon. We ran the Canon on ebay inks with no issues but recently it started giving an error code (B200) which is apparently common like ie it seems to happen to everyone . It looks like Canons attempt to make you buy another printer after a couple of years which is out of order, almost like an inbuilt virus. Similar thing happened to my last two printers the second one I found an internet fix for, but it seems this is common ie the norm for companies to build in an expiry date which should be illegal.
Rant over what all in one printers are cheap to run ie you can buy carts cheap on ebay and will last a long time. I dont mind paying for it 300 bucks even (a lot for a home printer) but I am over these inbuilt faults when the printer is still actually good.
    Cheers everyone any ideas?
    Chris

Some people seem to have had some success clearing a B200 error.

Have you tried any of these suggestions?

My printer died a few days ago. It was a Brother 2040 mono laser and was a used printer given to me about ten years ago. As far as I can make out, that model was released in 2005.

It had performed faultlessly and was still using the drum and toner that were in it when it was given to me.

I have just replaced it with the bottom of the range Brother HL-1110. If it lasts as long as my previous one, it will cost me about $4.40 a year.

It is a very basic model, and while it would not suit some applications, it does everything I need it to do.

Good Guys had them listed for $48 a few days ago, then the price dropped to $45 and when I picked mine up the shelf price showed $45 but I was charged $44 at the checkout.

I have a HP 3110 all in one, which is now about 6-7 years old and still going strong.
While the HP 02 cartridges are expensive it works fine with bogus ebay cartridges and does a reasonable photo also.
I don't think you can go wrong with the successor to the 3110

    Thanks guys,
I just managed to hook up an old HP so emergency is over (can scan stuff again), which will buy me some time to research the next buy. So fed up of printers dying when there is really nothing wrong with them.
