A video hosting site is a site you can upload videos to so you can copy and paste a URL to that video in a post.
You can do that with facebook but I think you have to be a facebook user to see them.

I also find that Facebook destroys your video and picture quality - for videos I use YouTube for pictures (and other files) I host them on my own VPS that I host a few websites on.
I prefer youtube for video just for a few reasons - easy to copy/paste embed links, easy for users to choose quality of video, and cross platform compatibility.

An additional unforeseen benefit is that most ISPs peer directly with Google so the videos can stream over a higher quality network. (i.e google's direct peering is generally better than the general internet backbone)

Photobucket can do it, but it's a bit crappy and clunky and Imfind I have glitches sometimes when I'm uploading larger files. There is also a storage limit with a free account but I've been using it for years and I'm only 30%.

I find YouTube to be easier and also easier to link in a thread. You can set privacy levels if you don't want the whole world to see them, but I only use it for videos I want to share, so not bothered myself.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Yes, Google has an excellent content delivery network, and some ISPs also allow unmetered data on Google sites, but then some also do that for Facebook data.
