windows will start charging you for each years use.
Instead of getting $$ off some of the world every other couple of years,, they will now get $$ off EVERY user EVERY year.

    is the upgrade worth it?
I paid for 8,, and it was worth every cent of $25,,
would I pay for the upgrade of 8 to 10?
    no,,
I was happy with 8 untill one morning I started up and found 10 had forced its way in to my laptop. I found an option to get rid of it but something buggered up . Took it to a bloke in town to fix. When I got it back a bunch of stuff is missing including Office" and all my Email contacts and files etc.
I am over it and dont use it much anymore.

I just read an article detailing that Microsoft automatically gets feedback from WIN10 on Edge usage and Photo usage.

Apparently you can disable this by setting "feedback" in the settings area to "basic" and "never".
    I have just done this.

There is software to disable ALL the data/key stroke logging microsoft has coded into Win 10.

This article gives ten reasons not to:
10 reasons to reject Microsoft's free Windows 10 upgrade | TechConnect

I have an eleventh. It's called OS X. Or, in future, macOS.

    However, here are ten reasons why you should, apparently;
10 compelling reasons to upgrade to Windows 10 | TechConnect

Thank whatever deity you approve of for Apple. And RedHat. Oh, and Parallels. I can run, and sometimes do, run Windoze 7, 8 (ugh), and 10, and Ubuntu Linux on my Mac. Linux out of curiosity, and Windoze when all else fails opening some arcane attachment.
The next installment of my OS, coming soon, will be better, and, whisper it, FREE.
Does anyone EVER ask why most of the Windoze install base is still on XP? Sheesh, I still see heaps of systems using NT ffs. MRI machines, for example.
Microsoft made you PAY for Windoze 8, and wondered why their profits were so poor. Apple gives ( GIVES ) their OS away, and are the most profitable company on Earth. Go figure.

SWMBO upgraded to Windows 10 on an old Dell latitude laptop, and had all sorts of issues

Eventually after talking to their tech support, they that model lap top had never been tested with the program,so they couldn't really help.

Not sure where you get your figures from:

I'd strongly recommend against using XP now.
