TRF Picture Folder from PC to Ipad

Can anyone give me a click by click way of getting a folder from my pc Windows 8 ) to Ipad (2) please? I don't get it. I have the ipad plugged into the pc but cant see it as an external drive or anything. I go into itunes and then Library and add folder to library , do this and nothing happens. I've been all over Google but none of the ways to do it make any sense to me.
    Any help gratefully appreciated.
    cheers,
    D

p.s I've finally managed to get my head around this, Cheers, D

iPads and the rest of the world (Android and Windows) don't play nicely together.

The way I've gotten around it, particularly for my wife (a self declared ludite) is by using dropbox.

Dropbox is (and I hate the expression) 'on the cloud' ie a server you can connect to and upload files. You can connect with any internet enabled device. Any devices you sync will automatically download the content you put on the server.

So, my wife takes a picture with her phone. As her phone is a smartphone, and data enabled, it uploads the photo to dropbox. When she gets home she starts he computer, opens the dropbox folder and her pictures are waiting for her.

Much easier than hard connecting (easy as a USB cable is).

That's beautiful Mate - I have been "spoilt" by microsoft and was expecting the Ipad to be recognised by the laptop - and then I thought I should just be able to drag it across. After fiddling with it for 30 minutes I was on the verge of self harming. Thanks for taking the time to explain.
    cheers,
