    My Rig: First IT/Computer Post

    Hi All,

I did some maintenance on my desktop rig this weekend, so I thought I'd share.

The rig was built for gaming, a number of years ago now, and I keep it "up-to-date" by upgrading vital components as I go.

    CPU: Intel i7 930
Mobo: Asus ROG Rampage III Extreme
    Ram: Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 ( 6GB )
GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX 970 SuperClock
HDDs: 2x Samsung EVO 128GB SSD in Raid 0, Western Digital Black 750GB storage
    PSU: Corsair HX1000
    Case: Coolermaster CM690 III
    CPU Water Block: XSPC Raystorm
    Pump: XSPC D5 in res.
    Reservoir: XSPC Dual-bay
    Radiator: XSPC EX240
    Fittings: XSPC 13mm compression fittings
    Tubing: Mayhems Ultra Clear 13mm
Coolant: Distilled water, Mayhems Bio-cide Extreme, silver kill coil
    Fans: 4 x Corsair AP120, 2 x AF120, 1 x case fan
    Monitors: 2 x BenQ RL2455HM on a single stand
    Mouse: Razer Deathadder 3600dpi
Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB Mechanical - Cherry MX Brown

The CPU, motherboard, and ram, are all close to 6 years old and still running strong. I do run a mild overclock at the moment, but it has been sitting idle since it got packed up a while ago to make room for a housemate. I decided two weeks ago to get it running again, and it needed some loving.

Over the weekend I changed out the old XSPC tubing which had gone opaque, flushed out the Mayhems XT-1 coolant, and gave the system a clean with Mayhems Part 2 watercooling system cleaner. After a few water flushes, I'm now running the new coolant ( distilled water with Mayhems Bio-cide Extreme ). I have yet to power it up in the current state, as I need to get my fan / pump controller hooked up.

The previous upgrade, over 1 year and 9 months ago, was a major overhaul, with the new case, watercooling, change from HDDs to SSDs, and upgrade from the EVGA GTX 670 FTW to the EVGA GTX 970 SC.

No recent photos, not a lot has changed bar the colour of the coolant and lengths of hoses.

    Thanks for reading!

It does, but it stained all the hoses I was using, and the glycol in the coolant was completely redundant, so I won't be using that concentrate again.

I might add some non-staining red dye this time instead.

I do have a plan for an in-loop temperature sensor and flow sensor.
