    Laptop fun

My old Travelmate finally leaked its smoke out,,
so I have upgraded to an Acer Aspire 5560G in very good external condition, battery still holds change even,,
What its APPEARS to do is as soon as cpu usage goes to zero it freezes,
so I reset windows and as soon as it reached 100% complete stoppage.
turn it off and as soon as the blue windows logo appears after the bios screen it freezes.

funnily it ran fine when reseting and loading windows.

Its got me thinking maybe the CPU is too old (A6-3400 quad) for Win 10,,,
there is some sort of limit now isnt there?

    linux works fine on them

windows 10 appears to be extremely problomatic at best because amd no longer support drivers for the chipset.

Win 10 shouldn't be a problem on an old AMD A-something CPU.

I updated my daughters laptop some time back now, and have her old AMD CPU'ed A-something(I think it was an A4 .. just not 100% sure right now)
Loaded Win10 ran fine(but I have no license for it, so only ran it as a trial for a short while)

Back to Win7 now .. slow as hell, but still runs.

Run a memory tester on it. At certain stages Windows may address that bit of the memory that has failed.

I installed windows 10 on my home pc about a month ago.
Ran windows 7 for years before that.

An obvious difference i notice is browser speed. For some reason 10 is slow as a slug.
General disk browsing is slow as a slug also.
C drive already seems bloated by my thinking and its concerning as i run a small SSD as my main and secondary drives for other stuff.
    Notifications are a total pain!
    Updates are a total pain!
Programs i have grown to trust crash or hang! My system should not hang. Its got the kahoonas to not hang.

Final thoughts. 7 is going back on my pc tomorrow!
If you have issues with 10 perhaps its 10? Windows has a history of making crap OS.
Actually they only ever made a couple good ones, 95,XP and 7. Thus far anyway.
I only installed 10 because i wanted to play the new age of empires hahahaha. I played it now im done.

10 is the best they have ever created when security and ease of use is the goal IMHO

firefox esr and the very latest chrome are way better than edge in every department from my experiences

vivaldi is very good browser as well if don't like either of the above or want the chrome kit based browser without the info leaking components.

windows 10 "usually" gets more stable and quicker over a week or so after installation. they finally seem to have gotten the old OS/2 artefacts working as they should.

my opinion and experiences of course...

    Wellllllll,,,
    Have run and passed memtest,,
    Have loaded Win7,
note how memtest and windows loading both work fine.

Machine now stalls at the logo pulsing "Starting Windows" screen, logo continues to pulse and cpu continues to flash activity
    but it never starts,,
    brand new SSD,
There is a newer bios for it,, might flash it and see,
