    Memory Map

    Memory Maps,
I have this App on both my iPhone and my tablet. So, learning basically how to use it all, the maps seem to be quite good,, happy with that lot. It seems to just be a copy of the Hema system, and apparently we can add to it all from Google as well.
Last week, we took a trip around and used the map on a few occasions, however, between uses, we’ve ended up with straight lines between the last place we used it, and when we restarted again. It shows up as a “as the crow flys” type line across country.
The main question is, how do we stop this, and how if possible, how do we get rid of the current lines.
Any help will be much appreciated, thanks in advance guys gals.

    Cheers Chops

    Hi,
I have never used memory map, so I'm guessing here.
What is happening, is that mm is seeing it as one track.
Are there options to modify the data collection/recording such as minimum speed/distance, or time not moving?
I have set my time not moving on my data logging gps to 30 minutes before it creates a new track.
Do you have the option of post trip data manipulation in the software? You can split or join tracks using that.
    Cheers

I have been using Memory Map for years. You have to go into the screen that starts logging your journey. The little arrow down the bottom right hand side and press "start logging" up the top

Yep, I get that bit, but my problem is when essentially the phone stops working for some reason, (today I think it was due to a low battery ??) then when you open the phone again/start it, the program draws a straight line from where you were to where you are now. Does that make sense. I'll get a screen shot of my phone and post it up shortly.

In your Setting-GPS Settings, is it set to run GPS in background?

I think you have a trip being logged so it tries to continue every time you boot it up again. You need to find a button that says Stop Logging. It may be on a drop down menu from the top somewhere.

Is there a 'cancel route' or similar option?

Here is a screen shot of what’s happening.
So my problem is just the fact that it creates straight lines. I’d like to think I shouldn’t have to be logging on and off every five minutes so to speak,, it should just keep going until “I choose” to turn it off.

It if is tracing a line when you move it is tracking (or logging) a "trip". Do you have a tab near the top of the screen that you can drag down? You may have to tap or double tap the main map to activate it? See my screen shot below, I have a bottom on this drag down bit to start and stop logging a trip. Your button should be red with "stop logging" written on it. When there is no trip being logged, the GPS circle will just move along leaving no blue trail behind it.

Just to clarify that picture, thats the second run on the same stretch of road. The first run the phone stayed on all the time, but today it didn't.
