You can use the tablet for telephony when the need arises .. use a bluetooth earpiece to actually communicate, and not hold a large tablet up to your ear.
Fair points. I hadn't considered that side of things. Probably because I am now officially an old fart. But I'll try it out, as I have a bluetooth streamer that pairs with my hearing aids. ( which is brilliant, BTW, hands free anywhere, and very odd looks at the supermarket ) although in my case I reckon a cellular Apple Watch would be of more value.

Its funny how everyone seems to have a comment on the taste of XXXX,, yet no-one admits to drinking it,, get your head around that!

Hmm.. when I first came to live in banana bending country I couldn't stand the stuff. But it grew on me, especially when I found I could get a slab for nearly half price if I took it warm ( Queensland is weird ), so a warm slab, and a cold six pack and you beaut. Victorian beer was dearer, and probably old, so XXXX was the go. I'm 35 years older now, and I won't drink Victorian beer, well not the major ones, and I won't drink XXXX. But I don't blame you for drinking it.... taste grows with age......

Yeah I know, but I can tell you from personal observation it's certainly drunk up here, maybe more than XXXX from what I've seen.

    Oh my,

A competition between 4x and great northern?

That's like a competition between the tortoise and an even slower tortoise.

A race to the bottom if you would,
we drank great northern when we were in William creek, wasn't too bad, but I think it was because only shortly before that, we thought we were going to die in the desert.

Have tried it further south but it's no good.

    And 4x? Well......

C'mon Ian. Kosciuszko Pale Ale is made in Sydney, I believe. Pretty much only Victoria Bitter, while horrible, is accurate. In both location and taste....

Any beer would taste good in William Creek, but it's interesting. I have a theory about beer, and it's about location and the folk who brew it. Nobody in Melbourne would drink Singha, but a very cold Singha is nectar in Bangkok. Beaten only by a short head by Thai brewed Heineken Heineken brewed here is horse ****, as are most beers. People used to think Victorian beer was the equal of Belgian or German beers. Those people are long dead.) . Even Chang works, but in Oz you wouldn't use it for cleaning drains. I put this down to heat and humidity, but what do I know. Asahi also works in SE Asia, but I'd take Heineken first. Here in Melb I'd take Asahi first. I like Stella Artois, but only if I can get the real Belgian thing, which I can't. 'Imported" can mean NZ, "Four Ingredients" means UK, and 'Belgian Expertise' means it is part of the chemistry set that used to be 'Carlton and United Breweries', which churns out billions of litres of an alcoholic version of battery acid weekly. I don't know what it is, it is amber and has a head, but it ain't beer.

I am stuck these days. Stella was a glorious, silky and beautiful beer, now ruined. I'd love a thicker UK style beer when it's cooler, but we get that in cans with explosive devices in them, and they taste of nothing. You can get stuff like "Old Speckled Hen" in bottles, but for **** sake why would you? I'll bet it's horrible on tap.

So, what do I drink? Well, the aforementioned Kosciuszko does a decent Pale Ale, but I only buy it because ALDI has it at half price. Hop driven ( good NZ hops ) beer, one of thousands clamouring for attention ( like puppies in a window ). My beer of choice? Peroni Natro Azzuro. Italian beer???? Well, yes. Peroni went through the whole 'we're buying you out' thing most breweries did. They got bought by Lion Nathan. That is a death sentence for decent brewing, and Peroni turned to ****.

I understand business in the same way that a goldfish understands an iPhone, but somehow Asahi bought Peroni from LN, and Asdahi decreed that all brewing of Peroni would be done in Italy.

I know most of you won't care about this, but Peroni brewed in Australia is Vic Bitter in a sharp bottle. Peroni brewed in Italy is beer. You choose.
