A feature lost that i really enjoy in Windows 7.
Control of updates.

Even if you "Pause" updates on 10 it still does some updates.
One of the many reasons i uninstalled 10 actually.
Come on Linux and catch up!

No, that's your 'Edition'. Go to 'Setting' > 'System' > 'About'. Scroll down till you come to the heading 'Windows Specifications'. Your 'Edition' should be listed as 'Windows 10 Home'. Under that your 'Version' should be listed and you should find an 'OS Build' number as well.
What is your Version No?
The latest 'Version' is 1909 I think. Below is a screen shot of Advanced Options from Version 1909. It's slightly different to the last one I posted and different to your's again. If you look around you will find MS has dicked about with the layout of this window quite a bit over the years as they have released different versions with different update options and policies to try to strike a balance between personal control of the update process and ensuring security of the OS.
Anyway it looks like you probably have an earlier version running.

OK, so you have version 1803. Since that version there has been version 1809, 1903 & 1909. So you are well behind the current release.
The ability to pause updates was first made available in version 1903.
If version 1909 was troublesome and you rolled back to your previous state you need to be asking yourself why am I now on version 1803 instead of version 1903. Something seems screwed. Examine your update history. Have there been any 'feature' or 'quality' update failures in the past?
Ok thanks - it is now trying to do 1903 and this is the one that is causing issues. Its telling me 1903 is 65% loaded.
Up until this thread - updates were on, notifications were on and I have just let it do its own thing.
Me - no idea. [bigsad]
1903 would not load - I could not work out why so I have now gone direct to 1909.
I have sorted the paste problem with the calculator - previously you could place the cursor anywhere on the display area and it would paste but now the cursor has to be just left of the number of the display to paste - also now the number in the display has to be highlighted to copy where previously it would copy with the cursor anywhere in the display area - so that issue is sorted.
A very minor issue is with the search area of the task bar - previously it was just a little magnifying glass next to the "start" window icon. Now it is a long white icon that takes up a large segment of the task bar - I have a lot of icons and now there is not enough room for the lot. In the paste you could change the size of the icons with the cursor and I can still select the end of the new white search icon but it does not change size of the white search icon - any ideas on how to make it a nice little box rather than a long white strip.
The last issue is the screen is dim despite the setting in Win display settings being set to max and the controls on the computer are set to max. Googling shows some talk about an auto dim feature (like on phones) and this should be turned off but if I have this auto function it is not obvious in the display settings.
Thanks for all the help - greatly appreciated.
