Thread: Chromecast conundrums

Basic plot: Want / need to cast up onto the Big Screen, a YouTube regular live-stream. Audio-Vid only. End of story....

Plan A was along HDMI cable, from mainframe to Panasonic w i d e screen tv.

Plan B was CHROME gadget which I think listens to phone, or computer or tablet and sends it via WiFi to TV,

Because B had the advantage or "receiving" from an iPhone etc, it won the day.

Spent a few $ on a Google Chromecast (basic model, TV is only 1080p) VERY frustrating to get the 'app' via forgotten passwords... no fun with pumphead and 5-year cardiac Cognitive Decline ! and have it up and running (I think...)

Big decision in the morning, if it fails..... then someone is getting a free / new chromecast blob !

WHY make technology so difficult ? It's communicating with my WiFi modem, the TV it's plugged into... my iPhone and it's 'APP' again viathe Wi-Fi modem and goodness knows who in google-home land. - suspect the Google HOme app reports to a distant home-base.... spilling all my sectrets it can find. Luckily I don't have a microphone plugged into my computer ! - I know their Fire Alarm Sensor module DO have a mic, inside the housing.... Ostensibly to 'hear' the alarm when under self-test, but live at all other times.

Update. Application of the CIA principle has saved the day.... Chaos, ignorance and Attitude.... trying all sorts of random stuff and, behold and forsooth... it doth cast my iPhone onto the wall-screen... including sound. I had NO idea I'd looked at certain Youtube videos in my past... but that's where 'YouTube' started me off....*
And yes, was able to muddle my way to the one I wanted. Worked amazingly well, well enought to entice an attempt this Sunday. Cussing NOT allowed if I stuff it up !

The Inve$tment is safe for now, though I stil maintain setup instructions are written for the 'in' crowd. Not us Senior, Normal folks.

* If you must know, a whole series of "non"-instructional..... flying training videos. Frightening thing is, I'd binged on these around
TEN years ago, yet somehow YouTube still linked them to ME.
