Thread: Spam Phone SMS

Generally they will attempt to download some malware to your phone which then gives access to passwords, account details etc etc.

I get them on my spare phone. I've never opened one to find out.

I look up the xxxxx.com to see what the website is about.
Had one the other day from a Californian business that looked legit.
I usually block the number and delete.
Thankfully they have dropped off for now.

Thanks for that - yes looks like a Flubot.

Thankfully all but one got grabbed by the spam filter and the one that didn't looked legit as I had just ordered something but I moved it to spam as a precaution.

I have now deleted the 45 items from the spam filter and have run my Malware scan as a precaution.

Yep, same here. Reckon it might be from phone numbers harvested from parcels delivered?

One of my more IT savvy friends suggested a possible leak in government data... like QR thingies. In WA the Wallopers were caught out using it's location data, for their nefarious purposes....

Or Occam's Razor would suggest a random phone number generator.
