A power spike yet to be fully worked over on Saturday damaged network switch and network on mother board on my server. Results was a bit unstable on Saturday and total chaos on Monday. A New network Gigabyte switch and PCI network card which jointly cost less than next to nothing now were installed last night. I was VERY careful to put the correct static Ip on the new card
Faults on to front desk computers both pointed to a shared network printer. Did the power spike bite more and if so how many other places to come was a worry!
One my way to by a replacement mono MFC I had a bright thought that all of my cat 6 hard gear had g5 wireless disabled. Why not just cut the cables!!!
On the way back a bit more relaxed I was counting all the Network cards and thinking about using those IP addresses on the Wireless side. How to stop conflicts was the thought!
Then a light bulb moment, The Broken unplugged Nework point on the server had the IP address and Conflicts??
In the dark at about midnight I missed removing the IP from the redundant Nework point. Fixed it and every thing works now. My very late night tonight will be in Bed nowA few years ago I did get a 72 hour marathon to shift data and merge data and make a temporary replacement when all the new parts could not stick it and merge everything to new server- Those were not my favorites dayz
