EV charging companies want all that info and more just so you can use your credit or debit card to charge up. You don’t need to do that to use your card to fill with petrol, diesel, or LPG.

Lots of places want those two,i believe it is an invasion of privacy, and often totally unnecessary.
There is a Police Facility we go to for work,i have QLd Corrections yellow card(which means they have done a full check and i can wander around any center in Qld unescorted),and a full state and federal police check, yet every time i go there they take my DL,put it in a safe and give it back when you leave.
i have asked why,and they say that is the procedure,if you are not happy with it,don't bother turning up.
Same happens to any contractor or visitor to the center.

Things must have changed. When the photo licences were introduced in NSW after the 'Australia card' got howled down by the public, the rules on who could even look at your licence were strict. Only Police, RTA officer or National Parks officer were allowed to view it. Now 16year olds in department stores ask to see it. Not seeing mine I tell'm
Don.

Yeah, I get it but there are times it’s required. At our work we ask to see a licence for any non account customers hiring a generator. Too much theft these days. Only had one person say no and he left without a generator - we strongly suspect he was dodgy though and with a stolen vehicle or plates.
Police don’t want to know about it though, but that’s a whole different topic.
