Kinda comparing apples with grapes there. USBC != Thunderbolt. Great detail in the images though.

Well, yes. I'm sure they could have found something more comparable than an Amazon Basics. It was the images, and the almost beauty of the  cable that took me. Did give an insight into why good cables cost, even before the Tax.

It's been my experience that genuine Apple USB - charge cables have a limited physical life, insulation eventually comes away from the connectors. Sadly, buying el-cheapo eBay-specials doesn't get around the iPhone Homicidal Streak... Mehanically great, but the are slowly but surely assassinated electrically, and eventually fail. The current criminal is an iPhone 7

Naturally, I see this as a deliberate malice

I always ( after many failures ) apply a little heat shrink to the usual point of failure. It's been working well so far.

I have only had 2 apple cables fail - both destroyed by entusiastic puppies

Never had the insulation fail, nor rip out - I do not ever yank the plugs out by the cables which seems to be the key.

I think in my case it has been awkward use whilst driving the truck.

I buy a couple of the Aldi cables when they come up every year @ $10 a pop.

Best I've found, braided, etc. Have to cut the metal collar off the phone ends to fit a life proof brand case but that's not hard.

Lifeproof case keeps the screen like new and the dock perfect.
