    Puter Crashes

One for the IT peoples - Computer P4 3ghz 500meg ram, dual processor. XP professional - windows updated - adaware/ewido and AVG

Without fail - 10 mins after start the blue screen comes up and the computer crashes - restart and no problems it will run forever. However, switch off and 10 mins after restart it crashes.

Defrag/disk cleanup once per week, virus scan every day, spyware every couple of days.
Any one got any ideas on what this might be.

    Cheers

I'm guessing there is no dust in the case and all the fans are running fine?

How long since windows was installed?
I had an old machine that used to reboot at exactly 10 mins from start up. Once it had been running for 30 mins it would become stable. Repartitioned the HDD and reinstalled everything and it stopped happening. No real reason for it just a windows thing.

Note the time you next start your PC and let it crash. Note that time too, then restart and have a look at the logs held in Event Viewer (Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer).
Check the events near the times you noted and click on each event for more info. Any clues there?

1 sec before the dump there were 2 events that started the event log - both related to SP2 and simpl writing information about my op system - the actual crash resulted from a bug check - the fault codes are listed but I cannot see anything obvious - I suspect it is one of those microsoft things that come from the updates - there is obvious some sort of clash ad it has a dummy spit.

Thanks for the information - at least I now know where to look for info.

    Thanks

I don't know how to help you with that but if you want to sort it out log on to www.bleepingcomputer.com and post your problem there. They can help with just about anything PC related (no charge and no strings).
