    Win !!

Serious question from an  user.

I gat constantly bombarded with vids telling me how crap Win11 is. So, is it? I seem to remember much the same carry on with Win 10, mostly from people who don't like change, and Linux fanboys. But this time MS is accused of creating spyware and forcing users to switch to the new platform by dropping support for the old one. I have no idea if this is all hyperbole, or if it's true, but I unfortunately have a need for Windows occasionally, and I need to get a new copy, which I have no intention of paying for. macOS has been free since Lion, in 2011. Nearly all Linux distros are free. MS needs to come out of the dark ages.

Or, I guess I can get Win 7 again. I only want to run it under emulation. Things like the Nanocom are also steam powered.

It's probably better to run Win7 under emulation than the later versions. For older s/w I run Win7 under Oracle VM on my Win10.

I guess I will look for 7. I seem to have deleted my old copy. I use Virtual Box. Apart from some self inflicted USB issues it is fine.
I’m still using an intel Mac so I can even dual boot into Windows if I want
There are chip reading apps that run on macOS but I think there’s much more support on Windows. Hmm, haven’t even looked into it on Linux, but I don’t think BBS supports Linux.

zorin linux is WAY safer than an outdated version of windows...

VMware workstation is now free so you can run any mix of OS's on just about any box these days

or use virtualbox if you dont like broadcom

windows 11, not so bad if you install from a usb thats had the bull**** disabled by ventoys or rufus

    world is full of joy....

Might give VMware a look. Oracle's stuff like VirtualBox isn't exactly intuitive, but it does work. I have difficulty getting the virtual machine to recognise USB devices.
