Guys if you are using it and it works for you then so be it but the tests I did on it a while back indicated that a large percentage of viruses got through it and the user didnt even know.
If you dont want to part with money the best is probably AVAST free

I know that this is as bad as engels/ Wacos Toyotas/Land Rovers
but AVG is suspect at best and most of the time the users dont even know
Yes I work in the industry

So I take it that I have misread the AVG pop up window and that there is a free version of AVG 7.5. That is great AVG has worked well for me - certainly better than paying Norton for their crappy system.

Thanks for all your comments - it makes feel a lot better.

    Cheers

I don't bother with antivirus software, and have never had any viruses since I stopped using Windows (there are no "wild" viruses that run on my O/S so any antivirus software for it is only to stop passing on viruses that I get sent to networked Windows machines - and I don't have any of them). Also most of the spyware etc will only run on Windows, provided you have security set at a reasonable level.

I have difficulty with the concept of paying a third party to provide software to paper over the cracks in an operating system I paid for - so I don't use either.

I've updated to 7.5 with no problems just make sure that you click on "repair" when installing.
