    Bit torrent

I've been having something of a problem lately of my network adapter (wired) losing connection every five minutes or so, then, usually reconnecting itself.

Just found that it seems to happen when I'm running bit torrent.

    Any thoughts as to why?

    BTW P3 850mhz 512mb ram xppro service pack2

    Cheers
    Simon.

Make sure you have the correct port forwarded on your router/modem and ensure that windows firewall is not blocking it either. There are usually detailed instructions for these on most bit-torrent client sites. You can also do an on-line test through the bit-torrent client to see if these things are set up correctly.

This may not have anything to do with you simply dropping out, but it pays to check anyway.

Was it your router or modem? (combo unit?)
Incorrect setup of bittorrent clients can cause congestion on your equipment.

I'm a bit rusty on it all at the moment, I did read about this ages ago when setting up bittorrent stuff.
