    Disposing of old computer gear

I need to get rid of a heap of old Macs, monitors, keyboards and the like.

I don't really want to add them to the land fill probo.

Anyone know of dismantlers / recyclers etc, maybe GC or Bris or wherever?

I thought there was something of a business in acquiring the boards for the metals but I've found nothing much....

    Cheers, GQ

Either stick 'em up on ebay - as a bunch or one by one if you are keen.

Or find a second hand mac place and donate them.

    Cheers

They're old macs, (1995 -2001) as in os 8 - 9, and while they still work they're useless for anything more than typing up a letter - such is the level of current needed technology. obsolete, great in their day, but...........

I see these types at auctions and garage sales at times for maybe $10........... sad isn't it....

If any one wants maybe 10 old macs, keyboards, mouses, monitors printers etc, you can have the lot, for a (good) case of the amber.......

If you lived close by, I'd be happy to take a system off your hands (for some amber) just so I could have a play and learn Mac-speak.

Hmm, I may have to go to Coffs shortly to check on the termite damage repairs on my house.

1986 the couple below us in the Duplex Flat in Caulfield we were renting set up a local advertisement funded local paper for Brighton they had a row of Macs along the lounge window.

People would come in write up their stories for the paper, they would add pictures do the layout graphically on the Mac and then download the paper onto disk and take to the printer to produce.

So even though the macs you have are 1995-2001 they are still powerful beasts just now slower than the modern versions.

When my 2004 vintage pc gets too slow and outdated l am going to swap over to Mac's as l so hate Bill Gates and Microsoft and l bet teh Apple geeks regret the day they licensed their Windows system to Bill.
