Ive got half a dozen Ubuntu cd's floating round here and that is probably what will go on first although i would have preferred the KDE desktop environment over Gnome. Ah well can all ways change down the road.

    Ha Ha Ha!

Just picked up a P4 2.8 with a laptop wrapped around it.

Only needs a screen and a HDD.

Even better, the kids made me go fishing in the skip.

    Sorry it's not an AMD.

    Cheers
    Simon

That will make a good carputer, just add a lcd touchscreen and maybe a large compact flash card in a pcmcia adapter to use as a hdd.

am quite happy with my 6800GT,, not too many AGP cards that are quicker,,

If I want to go faster still its a new box and all new parts,,,
not much change from a grand,,(and thats if i use on-board graphics,, ugh,, would rather drive a yota)

so a little increase will have to do,,,

    for now----

O-Kay. Never made the shop today, Landy clutch bung. Still on the to do list.

Checked Tom's site. My nVidea 5500 doesn't even get a mention.
Still, it works fine for what I do. nvidea did release a 7000 series card in AGP, about 3 months after they said only PCIe from now on. Pricey. Too pricey for this pensioner at least.

Landy spanner work this weekend, shop on monday, look for fast Barton chip for Pedro, SDRAM for Frank, my brain, got it.
We'll call that plan B. because I usually end up there anyway.

    Shorty.
