How do I convert Quicktime to Windows movie?

How do I convert Quicktime movies to a format the Windows media player can recognise?

Does anyone have a quick fix for this? I'm trying to put together a 3-5min video / photo / music that I can post to Youtube as a link from my ebay advert the next time I list the SIII.

I've never posted video before, so what's the best format to save the end product in?

    Thanks in advance.

I use a program called AVS Video converter, I think It came with either the digital camera or the DVD Video camera.

I't quite nifty, and converts from most formats to most format (If that makes sense)

From Video format to avi, mpeg, wmv, rm, qt/3gp @ dvd, and each combination of those listed.

If you have a video camera (and the right cables) it will also capture straight from the device.

I would guess the most popular file formats would be avi, mpeg or wmv

    You can buy the software

Video LAN - VLC Media Player

There's an open source project which features a media player which will play pretty much anything called VLC. It's available at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/.

Under the file menu there's a Transcode Wizard which should allow you to recode your file to whatever format you want. I confess I haven't used it but I've just taken a quick look at it and it was happy to take a Quicktime .MOV file and transcode it to .WMV for me.

It's a great piece of software and legitimately FREE!

    PROGRESS UPDATE

I tried the "any video convertor," but that could only change stuff to mpeg formats, which windows media couldn't open.

The AVS program worked fast & well, but the demo version leaves a big imprint on the screen saying it was converted with an unlicensed copy. Registration is $69USD which is a bit much for a handful of 30sec sequences. It does come with a whole lot of edditing & copying stuff though, and would probably be worth it if my level of expertise extended that far.

I couldn't get the videolan one to work. I downloaded from a mirror site in the USA and from the original site in France and both told be there was an installation component missing and it couldn't install it to my computer.

That's as far as I've got so far, I've been (still am) at work, but I'll have another look at it on my days off. Any suggestions for other freeware are still welcome.

Thanks for the advise & assistance thus far.
