    Ram X 2 :(

Ok,, so installed ram, played some games,
    got a BSOD which said,,

    PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

    0XAA55D398
    0X3A569DFO

    found a virus,

    W32/VB.NQ (exact)

inside a nero file that I hadnt touched in more than a year.

started getting a paranoid feeling about this new ram module----
    ran a proggy called MEMTEST,,
    instant failure,,
    ran again,, failure,
    reseated rams, failure

tested in both slots using NEW module only

    no probs,,

tested in both slots using OLD module only

    no probs,,

put both in,, in either slot
    instant failure.

no more BSOD since virus removal--(crosses fingers)

    any ideas??

the new module came in the proper packaging BUT unsealed, looks new---

and is the correct matching specs.

    EDIT,,
    have since run this
    http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
    and everything fine,,,,,

    EDIT2
found this,, and had it happen a few times lately

sounds like compatibility problem.....always best to purchase ram sticks together and sell old stuff or use in some other box.

I'd say RAM in an unsealed packet is used RAM, but this is the warrantee stick from the factory, isn't it?

I just picked up three sticks of ddr2 400 128mb for $2 each. Two sticks in sealed Kingston boxes, one opened, on closer inspection the opened stick had those little tell-tale marks on the contacts that showed it had been installed before - not much help once the RAM is in.

If you've got two supposedly matched corsair sticks and they don't work matched I reckon it's time to pull out that warrantee again and get ready for the next year long wait.

    Cheers

memtest is very fussy on the type of chipset on the motherboard..

i always keep 1 old version as well as the new version iso handy as the old one works better on some boards...

watch your email for something from me....

Half of the stuff I looked up pointed to RAM, the remainder talked about driver problems, corruption/version.

    http://www.minq.se/forum/thread.jspa...1144&tstart=45
I just wanted everyone to know that I finally got a resolution on this.

It was indeed some driver incompatiblity with my laptop (as a previous poster had opined).

I have a dell M70 and after blasting a whole bunch of driver patches through my machine yesterday, the bluescreen problem is gone!!!!

My gut feeling is that it was the video driver patch that did it (it was tagged new within the last 2 weeks, and mentioned improved stability specifically).

Thanks to all who have helped in this quest. I want you guys to know that we finally got our full version licenses a couple of days ago (blue screening didn't go away with the full version like I'd hoped). Now that my stability issue is gone, I can comfortably say this piece of software is the best bang for the buck I've ever seen.
    This looks interesting.

Weren't you having video driver problems recently?
