Try knocking back the CAS setting from 2.5 to 3.. or making sure its all clocked correctly.. 2.5 to 3 on the cas should work tho... could also look at the other ram settings too... search on google for what you could use as its been far too long since i messed around with that stuff

    Thanks

For what it's worth, one of Microsoft's automatic updates sent out last week broke the svchost.exe file, which is sorta key to keeping the whole shebang working. The second one (sent out I think on Wednesday) fixed it.

Could this have been the problem?

    sigh....

    ram comes
    single packaged eg like kingston
packed - eg amicroe in heat sealed antistatic bag
bulk tray packed - comes in a plastic tray and the seller packages at sale time.

all three can have life time manufacturers warranty, 5 year warranty, 3 year warranty or 1 year warranty depending on grade.

in any bulk batch of ram you will find maybe one or two with clip marks from testing..

ram comes in varying grades, the different grades look identical but are not the same performance wise

get you ram from someone that buys from tier 1 distributor, what you are buying is then guaranteed to be the grade you are expecting to buy :P

grey market ram is everywhere, mutton dressed as lamb.
