    How do I join DVDs

I have pirates of the caribean II on dvd spread over two single layer dvds. I want to join the DVDs for burning onto a dual layer dvd or to shrink them onto a single disk - does anyone know of any FREE software that can join DVDs.

    Thanks

How did you do the original split? If you have a bunch of VOB files on each disk, I think you can use something like IFO Edit to modify the index so it knows all the files are now in one place...but it's been a while since I played, and the learning curve for this sort of thing was pretty steep as you need to understand the DVD structure. Probably easier if you can re-rip the original DVD with DVD Shrink telling it the desination media is now DVD9 instead of 4.5GB?

Might be worth a look round somewhere like doom9.org?

Thanks Jeff - I don't have the original as the disks were given to me so cannot reburn using DVD Shrink. I need to do something like you say. There are a total of six video files (VOB's) and a control file on each disk.

If all else fails I will use a trick that I have used before but doesn't always work. I will go through my other DVD collection and find a basic DVD(no menus etc) that has 6 VOBs in it. Copy the lot and replace the VOBs with the ones I have ensuring I give the files the correct names. Generally but not always VOB1 is the first piece of video and so forth. The control file normal controls the order the VOBs are played. I will give it a go if nothing else works.

    Thanks
