I just cant get over USB being so slow,,,,
may have something to do with your hardware and your antivirus software. disable the antivirus and see how much it speeds up, esp if you have scan compressed files turned on, heaps i bet.
both firewire and usb 2.0 are quicker on a mac, esp firewire, windows and linux for that matter get i/o bound on big files by comparison IME.
is there a proggy thats reads the transfer rate??
I've found that transfer time will vary dramatically for a large number of files with a total of 7.5GB compared to one 7.5GB file.
I've found this particularly with the Cisco Curriculums that I transfer from one location to another or to CD. They are comprised of lots of small html files - only around 80MB but thousands of files! When zipped up, the transfer is almost instantaneous.
Maybe this is why yours is taking so long Pedro.
