One for the Word gurus here.
When creating a report that includes photos, the bloody things take on a mind of their own and skip all over the place ... It's driving me bonkers ..
.
I've checked out the help section, but it doesn't really give any clues on locking them in position.
Any suggestions??

You'll find a Microsoft HELP section doesn't really give clues as to anything....
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

What NM said - but first remember that in "Layout" you have to select a "Wrapping Style" other than "In line with text"
Also
Under the "Advanced" button in the "Picture Position" you can also uncheck the "Move object with text" and it will fix it to the page for you to move around.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
I've always put the photo in a textbox and then moved it about therein...
I don't like Word for illustrated articles - the pics really bloat the file size.

MS Word appears to exhibit some rather odd behaviour which causes its file size to bloat under the particular circumstance where you ...
- Insert a photo
- Save the file
- Delete the photo
- Insert a replacement photo
- Save the file
I won't swear to this but it appears that in this scenario, although the original photo vanishes from sight, its information remains embedded in the file. The way to remove it is to perform the File/Save As instruction which apparently clears out the redundant info.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone else can shed some light on this?

I think you are right, Graham. I've seen it do that.
