    More Vista !! :)

    I need to connect Di's laptop to the net to update it,,

    It is Vista Basic.

    is it just a matter of connecting to the modem?,, or will Microsoft ask questions??

    I have nothing but the laptop, no vista discs.



    is the first update really 700mg???

    just plug it in and it should go if it doesnt already have a network specific setup... std is dhcp and it will just work... well it does on normal machines for normal people :P

    700mb... nah not seen one that size and i dont think all of them combined run into that on my vista business box, must go have a wee lookee see.

    my work machine has been on vista for months now and i cant remember the last time it hiccuped to the point of locking up or rebooting i have to say.

    i personally think vista is a very good bit of kit for a microsoft product, by far the best 1st iteration release i have seen from them.

    Well like I said, it was when it was all brand new and just been released... they were pushing stuff out every day at first.

    Maybe whatever they were pushing out at first has been updated to the media since... just be wary of how much it is downloading.
