    vista shut down

    hi guys

since having vista i'm having trouble shutting it down......

well not really having trouble but it sometimes takes at least 2 goes to shut it down

for example the other night i shut it down, and yes i defeinatly clicked to shut it down and not put in to power saving mode which i did alot when i first got it as its the same button as shut down in xp

and the computer shut off just like it was shutting down then all of a sudden back to life it came its done this to me a few times now, as at first i thought it was just me

its more of an annoyance than anything else but is there a setting i can change or something along those lines or is it something i shouldbe concerned about?

has it ever happened to anyone else?

    thanks
    lou

    Hi db,

    Bit more information:

Have you kept Vista up to date with patches?

Is this a Desktop or Laptop?

Is it a brand name one or a generic (made up) PC?

Did you install Vista over the top of XP or did the PC come with Vista?

OK, I would start by looking at the power options in the Vista Control panel. Go to the advanced settings option. This may not be available on a desktop, but I've read where the power options can still be configured. Check the settings.

Next check what version of BIOS the motherboard is running. This may come up in the initial Boot screen or you may have to press a function key to enter the BIOS setup. Check the manufacturer's web site for the latest BIOS version. Do the same with Video card, check for updated drivers.

Wireless KB shouldn't be an issue.
