Hi all,

After reading a thread on here about monitoring your broadband connection and using a seperate pc running some firewall software ..have decided to go down this route and try and set one up..

Got hold of an old P3 pc and installed Endian community firewall on it..very easy install..about 5 minutes in total !

Just been thinking about the network config a bit more..after setting up the 'green' network card and accessing the web browser set up..the setup continues and asks for settings on the 'red' network card..

The issue I have is..my ADSL modem is a combined router and VOIP box.(Netgear DG834GV with Engin VOIP ports)..this has 4 ethernet ports which i use for my pc , laptop and printer..so to use the Endian firewall pc I would need to connect the 'red' network card to one of the ethernet ports on the router and connect the 'green' network card to another switch for my local LAN...is this viable ??..i could then use DHCP from the Endian to connect my pc,printer and laptop to the interweb ..

Is all this really worth it ??..

Any suggestions/comments from Endian firewall users welcome..

cheers,
Richard
