    Welcome back mate.

    A Microshaft error code 18?

And, SP3 for XP, is still only a beta release candidate not yet a proper job.

And the ZDNet guru's are still talking about Windows7.

I expect they will be "talking" about it for some time.

Vista was released last year and only really fully mainstream now.
MS aren't going to be wasting all that money on D, (notice I didn't say R&D ) just to release a new OS in two years and even if they wanted to it will never be on time.

    I would guess at 2011-2012

XP was released around 2001, (or thereabouts) it's now 2008 and Vista is only just a fledgling without even it's first proper SP.
Naa they'll want to rake in a bit more cash first.

IMO, FWIW stick to XP until at least the first Vista SP you'll be safe from a new OS for some years yet.
