    Vista64 and USB devices

I dunno what it is with me and usb,,,,

vista now wont recognise my camera,, camera software and drivers are for XP, Fuji AND Microsoft say this camera should just do its thing when plugged in to vista(there are NO drivers listed for vista on the Fuji site),,, the box recognises all my other usb stuff,, mouse, keyboard, hub,
have uninstalled all usb hubs etc,, but--- if I plug it into the hub,, all that fault finding shouldnt be necessary,,??,,?

there is a bit on the web about vista not seeing usb things,,,,,,

    do cameras have firmware upgrades?

Have you actually tried to see if it appears as a drive when its plugged in

With my web cam it always tries to look for drivers/software - I click cancel, and it says it wont work properly

    -------------- BUT ---------------

    It works perfectly

    Go figure.

After you plug it in just see if you can see your camera as an extra drive - if its there you can access all your pics - and everything else should work perfectly - you may have to move files/pics manually - but thats quite easy

Have you tried going to the computer management panel and seeing if the drive volume is recognised? if it is it may be trying to use a drive letter that already exists i have this problem frequently on xp too...

if you go to control panel > administration tools > computer management and then under storage there is a section called disk management. if the volume is there right click and then select change drive letter and paths and change it to something that isnt used...

may not be this in which case.. not got a clue!

    Thanks

is it even recognising it and trying to install the drivers?

if it is point it at the masstor driver... i cant remember exactly what it is called tho

we have had a similar issue with a flash drive at work thinking about it... it was to do with it being removed from an xp machine without stopping it.. something like that anyway... the fix was to plug it back in and stop it properly then plug it into the vista machine

has it been plugged into an xp machine?

    Thanks

Unplug the hub and as much usb stuff as possible, then plug camera back in, might be a usb power thing.

    Is the hub powered?

Failing that, those plug in card readers are cheap as.

It's only been a couple of weeks, maybe it's time for a clean install.

    Cheers
