I know there is one that the PM's at work use. Its Microsoft Project. Apparently its pricey though. Good bit of gear apparently.
Anyone know of anygood project management or job scheduling software programs? Specifically I need something to run a 5-6 year 145 lot property development project and also for implimenting a new business model/ structure into an existing finance company.
Really looking for something user friendly that will alow me to time line key parts of each project and update as I go.
Thanks in advance, Mick

I do construction and use a combo of Excel tools and MS Project. Thing is you don't need 80% of what MS Project will do, so try to pick up an older copy somewhere on the cheap. Ie I'm running MS Project 98 on my Vista machine, works fine.
I've got a basic project planning excel sheet you can have if it's a help. PM me your email if you're interested.
For a cheaper alternative try GanttProject (an open source program).

(this assuming you want a Gantt chart program)
all of those work goodI think its more how you use it.
I work in IT design & project delivery myself![]()
A good open source application is 'Open Workbench'.
Plenty of features including the ability to work across multiple projects with the same resources (people basically) which MS Office doesn't really handle.

I used to use MS Project when I did project management, e.g., building upgrades, bringing telephone exchanges on line, bringing submarine cable systems into service, etc.,- mainly because we had that on the work network.

I must admit that MS Project works for me. Even though it has a lot of features that you may not need, I find it very intuitive.
