You probably should do it legit. If everyone tries to rip it off then they will just stop building it...

I suspect that the laptop might not work without a battery. Even if the battery doesn't hold a significant or perceptible charge, the laptop won't start without it.

Dunno what a repack on the battery would cost, but I'd guess $50-60 at the very cheapest.

That and ram start to hike the price up.

    Cheers

I'm using my Dell 6400 without a battery. However an older work laptop I had needed the battery to fire up. Even though its battery was cactus.

Yeah, I have one Toshiba that needs the battery to run. My aged IBM runs without the battery, athough doing so can lead to a corrupted eprom on the motherboard, which can be a costly replacement.

You download a free trial that has limited features so you can see if it does what you want of it, then buy the full version. As I recall the full version is not very expensive anyway.
Yep, I tried it too. It is excellent for testing things out. I think there are some limitations though. You're right too, buying it isn't expensive.

    Hi Weeds

I just replaced my 512 of RAM with 2 G for less than $60 from ebay, for a Toshiba Laptop.
Your more than welcome to have the old 512 if it suits your needs, might even have a spare battery there for an old Toshiba Satellite Pro, (model number forgotten) but purchased in about 2002.
I'm not home until later in the week, but PM me if your interested in the RAM.

    Regards,

    Greg
