    Time Capsule

When my WiFi router died the other week I bought a 1TB Apple Time Capsule.
Just thought I'd mention this to anyone who has thought of a network disk. The only downside I have with it is it only has one disk. A mirrored pair would be much nicer. I still put my key data across to a NAS RAID5 unit every few days as well (call me paranoid - disks can fail)

Brilliant idea and with the Mac OS X Time Machine it is great.

My wife's also complaining about me being a Mac convert after 2 weeks with an iMac. She even suggests I try and find a WA group (Windows Anonymous, for former Windows users )

Saw an interesting stat a week or so ago.

Apparently Apple now has 66% of the market in the US for computers sold through retail stores priced over $1,000. Its market share has gone up 50% in the last year.

It's a bit skewed of course because most PCs are priced under $1,000 but still not a bad performance.

This, of course, was typed on the iMac that gets used by everyone in the family except my wife.

    Hi dm,

I assume you are talking about the new airport extreme that operates as the auto storage for time machine?

I had to buy a new Macbook when my G3 power supply died Got tha 160gig black version and also got the old version of airport extreme. Would have waited for the new, to use as backup also, but was unaware it was coming out.

To cut a long story short........I can hook all sorts of things up to the old airport extreme, including printers. I can't see what would stop me (or you) hooking up another external hard drive to airport and get time machine backup on another device automatically.

Someone must know if this is possible.

I use a WD 250 gig drive for this atm, but I have to hook it up to the Mac every week.

Isn't it amusing to catch the look on a PC user's face the first time they see time machine opened?

    cheers, DL
