    New Pc

    G'day.
I need to buy a new computer but I dont want Vista, I want to stay with XP.

Question : If the new hardrive comes with Vista installed can I delete it
    and install my XP ?
Or do I need to replace the HD with a new blank, formatted jobby >

You can change back to XP. I did it on 2 machines but it was so freakin difficult. And admittedly now the machine doesn't work as well as it should. Sony in UK and they were thinking of doing it here were allowing a free "downgrade" of their machines if you prefered XP but I'm not sure if it ended up happening here.

You can by Dell PCs with an XP downgrade pack. The PC comes with a Vista disk but XP Pro installed.

It can be done. Tell the sales staff that if it has vista you will require them to pay you $2500 to accept it. The message will soon get through. As said some brands are already offering the "Downgrade" upgrade. I think I know of 1 person who likes vista.

Can't you just boot from an XP CD and type: Format c: /s ?

Or you can use this: http://www.dban.org/

you can use the down grade discs supplied by most but you lose functionality and stabilty as the sata drivers really arent that stable in xp.

Looks like I will be getting a new Mac then, with two 24 inch screens,
    4 gig of ram.
Local bloke will do me a deal at $3,200.

I forgot to ask if my existing pc printers and scanners will work with the
    Mac, anyone know ?
