Highly praised here ASUS EeePC 1000H Review - Laptops

    Next steps:
    1. decide when to introduce the news into the dinner table conversation; and
    2. load Linux on it when it arrives.

    Hi Andy

Yes, ideal for OziExplorer. While I plan to put Linux on mine I might leave it dual boot with XP just for Ozi.

IIRC Jon's is the Eee 901 which has a smaller screen than the one I bought, and shorter battery life, but is more portable. It's discontinued / superseded but can be picked up for $299. If I see it come up at that price I'll pm you.

    G'day guys

I have an Eee 701 which has a baby 7" screen and only 800x480 resolution normally. You can change to higher resolutions but it doesn't look so good for reading text. The keyboard isn't the friendliest to type on, but as a travel companion I find it perfect.

I started out running various versions of Linux and had OziExplorer running fine by using Wine. I followed these instructions.

Now I am running XP because I was having a few niggles with eeexubuntu. No doubt I'll change back to Linux later.

The Acer Aspire One is on my shopping list if I decided to upgrade. Review Here

    Cheers
    Randal
