    Removing second operating system

After the problems I recently had with my OS getting a hit during defrag, I had a brain wave and decided to load a second version of XP onto my secondary drive.

My logic was that I have the system boot from C drive and the first OS but if it ever took a hit I could have the system boot from the other OS system on D drive and then just use that to load the backup file (OS as well) onto C drive. I wanted to do this because when I reloaded the backup file to fix my current problem I got my files back but had to reload all the software (and am still loading) and go through all the updates again.

Anyway I loaded a second XP OS but the system still asks which OS I want to use even though I have told the system which drive to boot from. Also the second OS will not read the 'My Documents' files on the original drive.

Any way - not happy with this so I restored my system prior to the loading the second OS but it is still there. So I reformatted the second drive where the second OS was located and the files are removed but the boot process is still looking for it even though I have told the computer to boot from the main OS. While the system works OK it is still looks for the second OS on boot.

So - how do I completely remove the second OS from my computer so that it does not list the now non existent second OS on bootup.

    Thanks

    Garry

Run MSCONFIG and remove it from the boot option.
