optus wireless
has any one, had any thing to do with optus pre-paid wireless internet...there advertising wireless broadband 3GB for $30 over 30 days;you can buy the starter kit for $199,and receive an optus wireless broadband USB and 2GB of data,and a Sim card.
I have tried to buy one,but no one seems to have them in stock,I have tried every where,as anyone tried them ????are they good value

if you have decent signal strength it is fine. some of my techs use them.

No idea where they stock them but I did look at them alongside the Telstra Next G version.
As far as I could tell the Optus version is a much cheaper proposition but only gives broadband type speeds in 3G areas and when roaming in GSM it is very very slow.
Telstra Next G is broadband speed wherever you go in a Next G area (so a lot more areas in other words). However it was a lot more expensive.
I was looking into it as a home internet replacement when we move.
With Optus prices it was feasible but with Telstra prices it was a big no go.
Just my opinion.

I looked at it, but carefully look at the way it is charged. It's charged in 10MB increments, and therefore for occasional use, its likely that you'll be charged stacks more than for what you use. If it was charged as per exactly what you use, I'd have gone for it.

Hmmm... last I heard Optus had stopped selling them due to network congestion.
Read about it here.
If my experience of the iphone with their data network is indicative I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
