Topfield PVR on a network
Hiya,
Splashed out on a Topfield TF7100HDPVRt twin HD tuner, 320GB STB yesterday. Very nice bit of kit.
This replaces my HTPC which I've lost patience with
But I can't for the life of me get the network ftp side of things working. I'd really appreciate help from anyone with experience with this or previous models.
Cheers.

G'day , I could be wrong but this the first topfield that has the networking capabilty. The 7000 that i bought only had a usb port. The hassel that i went through trying to get stuff off of it was a great education . For that machine you had to get an external hard drive and then format a part of it in fat 32 , hook it up to the topfield in a specific order , then formatt the external hard drive three times, to expand the 32gb partition to the full drive size . Only to divcover that whilst the external hard drive may have been 500 gb U could only get 16 gb on it before the topfield froze. Get used to that term! When you then take the external hard drive to the pc you will discover that the pc can't SEE the external hard drive because it in a Linux formatt and you need the download some special drive from the web. If you disconnected the external hdd from the topfield the wong way , you needed to run a fsck to remaove any open type code . Once again this is done on linux speek!
Tips for you, get on to the iTopfiled web site and go to the topfield 7100 forum and read and ask questions,
Cheers and goos luck , Greg

Glad you found it usefull White 3d, I actually had that much fun with the Topfield that I went and built a htpc !! I found the media centre in vista excellent for recording. But gave up on the software that I got with the tv tuner cards. What i like about the topfield is that it will turn it self on , and off it goes , but as Murphys law will tell you , the most critical show that you want to watch will happen just after you've filled the hard drive.
Am interested to know how you get on as I did think about selling the 7000 on ebay and getting a 7100! Actually that was before the home pc storage went up to 2.45 terabytes!
Hope you can get the networking going
cheers Greg
